Dear Friends,
We have made a lot of progress since we launched Phase 9 of the Vocational Training Center (VTC) construction project in Nyeri County, Kenya, earlier this year and are on the verge of being able to move into the exciting next stage of the project.
.
Throughout our work on Phase 9, we have continued to employ an incremental approach to construction to ensure the quality of the work and to keep pace with projected funding. We are pleased to share that we have completed Phase 9a, which focused on the ground floor and involved installing windowpanes and doors, applying staircase and floor finishes, painting, and completing external drainage systems. Thank you for enabling us to achieve this critical milestone.
.
Today, we are launching Phase 9b, which will complete major ground floor electrical and mechanical work. During this phase, the construction activity will focus on wiring main electrical panels and fixtures and installing firefighting systems, washroom fixtures, and a sewer system. We are seeking your support as we raise the required $54K (of which we have raised $10K) to complete Phase 9b.
-
Please help us end the year on a strong note so that we can complete Phase 9 early next year and begin helping the youth achieve their potentials.
-
Once we complete Phase 9, we will be able to start offering courses in the completed sections of the Vocational Training Center, using funding from generous donors like you that has been set aside for the development and delivery of technology courses, while finishing the rest of the building. In an upcoming newsletter, we will share with you the work we are doing to prepare for Phase 10 (operationalizing the VTC).
-
We are excited about the progress we have made together, thrilled to be so close to being able to offer courses, and grateful for your support in creating a more hopeful future for the youth in Kenya.
