With friends like you, we have been able to accomplish so much over the past four years!

As you know, we are partnering with Tumaini Children’s Home in Nyeri, Kenya to build a trade school, a strategic response to high unemployment in Kenya. Once open, the four-story, 29,000 square foot Vocational Training Center will certify young men and women in trades such as plumbing, masonry, culinary arts, and tailoring.

As 2019 comes to a close, we reflect on how much we have accomplished together this year:

2019 Highlights

VTC Construction
* External wall construction completed
* Window casements, door casements, and staircase banisters installed
* Funds raised to plumb building on Giving Tuesday (December 3, 2019)

* Computer Lab expansion yields ICT contract with local primary school
* Agribusiness Training track launch, thanks to generous friends

Work in Progress

VTC Construction
* Phase 8: plumbing, electrical conduiting, internal plastering

* Hairdressing & Barber Skills Training moves to new facility

Brand New in 2020

Life Skills Training & Character Development
Because the youth population we serve grow up in orphanages, we find it critical to address foundational issues as the basis for a flourishing adult life. Local mentors will lead on-site sessions. More on this new initiative in the new year.

End of Year Campaign: Electricity

Between now and the end of 2019, our goal is to raise $11,500 to add electrical conduiting to the entire 29,000 square foot Vocational Training Center building.

Thank you to all those who have already given towards this final campaign in 2019!

Your donation reaches far beyond brick and mortar construction!

You help us foster dignity by preparing a young person to earn a self-sustaining, living wage through trades certification earned at the VTC.

Learn For Life Kenya is committed to combining goodwill with contextually relevant solutions, strengthened by sound economics and grounded in the recognition that all humanity has dignity as formed in our Creator’s image.
